Our History
Founded in 1886 as Pinetown Government School, the institution's journey began under the leadership of the first headmaster, Mr. A.H. Jennings. The school initially operated from a building that would later become the Pinetown Police Station, located on the Old Main Road. This building served as the school’s home from its inception until 1920.
In 1920, a significant milestone was achieved when Pinetown Government School relocated to its current site on School Road, which is now known as Pinetown Senior Primary School. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in the school’s long-standing history of providing quality education to the community.

The school’s badge, featuring a Unicorn, was introduced by one of the early headmasters. The Unicorn, a symbol of purity, hope, love, and majesty, is said to have been inspired by a ship called the Unicorn, which sailed from England. This noble creature has since become an emblem of the school’s enduring values.

Today, Pinetown Senior Primary School continues to build on its rich legacy, maintaining a strong commitment to excellence in education while honoring its proud history. Over the years, the school has evolved to meet the changing needs of its learners, yet it remains a pillar of academic and community life in Pinetown.
