PSPS Learner Wins 140-Year Anniversary T-Shirt Design Competition

Hannah Ramlugan’s winning design becomes part of the school’s historic milestone

Founded in 1886, Pinetown Senior Primary School reaches a significant milestone in 2026, marking 140 years of educational excellence. As part of this historic celebration, the school invited its learners to contribute to its legacy through a T-shirt Design Competition, an initiative that blended creativity with heritage.

The response was remarkable. A total of 98 entries were submitted, each offering a unique interpretation of the school’s identity, values and long-standing tradition within the Pinetown community.

Emerging as the winner was Grade 5 learner Hannah Ramlugan, whose design was selected for its clarity of concept and its ability to translate a long and proud history into a visual form that is both modern and meaningful. Her work will now be featured on the official 140-year commemorative T-shirt, currently in production.

Beyond recognition, the winning design carries symbolic weight. It becomes part of how the school chooses to present this milestone, not only looking back on its history, but allowing a current learner to help define how that history is expressed in the present.

Hannah has been awarded a R1000 shopping voucher and will receive one of the first printed T-shirts, marking her contribution to a moment that stands well beyond a single school year.

Her work now forms part of a milestone that spans generations, a contribution that will be worn, seen and remembered as Pinetown Senior Primary School celebrates 140 years. We commend Hannah for her creativity and the meaningful role she has played in shaping how this moment will be carried forward.
