Prize Giving Ceremonies Celebrate Achievement Across All Phases at Pinetown Senior Primary School
Pinetown Senior Primary School proudly concluded the 2025 academic year with a series of Prize Giving ceremonies held on 3 and 4 December, honouring learner achievement across the Remedial Unit, LSEN, and Mainstream phases. These ceremonies served as a meaningful reflection of the school’s commitment to recognising progress, effort, resilience, and excellence at every stage of learning.
Remedial Unit & LSEN Prize Giving – 3 December 2025
The Prize Giving celebrations commenced with the Remedial Unit and LSEN learners, beginning with the Foundation Phase and continuing into the Senior Phase. The ceremony was marked by a warm and inclusive atmosphere, enriched by an African Christmas theme that reflected the school’s values of culture, community, and togetherness.
Learners were recognised not only for academic achievement, but also for personal growth, perseverance, character, and commitment. Thoughtfully prepared performances by learners added depth and emotion to the programme, reminding all present of the journeys each child undertakes throughout their school years.
The programme was led with care and professionalism by the Remedial Unit Departmental Head, Mrs L. Du Preez, who guided the proceedings with warmth and clarity. Teachers presented class awards that acknowledged improvement, dedication, and resilience, reinforcing the belief that success takes many forms.
A particularly reflective moment came through a learner address that captured the emotional progression from the early years of schooling through to the senior grades, highlighting the strong bonds formed within the school community.
Principal Mrs N. P. Tshika, together with members of the School Governing Body, presented special awards recognising outstanding achievement in academics, sport, arts and culture, as well as learners who represented the school with pride. The ceremony concluded with the acknowledgement of the school’s leavers, marking an important milestone as they prepare to take their next steps beyond Pinetown Senior Primary School.
The closing moments of the ceremony reinforced the strong partnership between learners, parents, staff, and specialists, reflecting the care and support that define the Remedial Unit and LSEN programme.
Mainstream Prize Giving – 4 December 2025
The following day, the school community gathered once more to celebrate the achievements of learners in the Mainstream Intermediate and Senior Phases. The ceremony opened in a spirit of reflection and unity, setting a respectful and aspirational tone for the day.
The programme was enriched by the presence of distinguished guest speaker Mr Zukile Madikizela, a Pinetown Boys’ High School Old Boy, former Head Boy, and current Sports Director, as well as co-founder of the British Football Academy. His address encouraged learners to lead with purpose, remain disciplined, and believe in their potential beyond the classroom, particularly resonating with the Senior Phase learners preparing for their transition to high school.
Class awards were presented across the Intermediate and Senior Phases, recognising academic excellence, leadership, effort, growth, and consistent commitment. These moments highlighted the importance of perseverance and the role of both educators and families in supporting learner success.
The ceremony also celebrated broader school achievements through reflections on initiatives such as the Santa Shoebox Project, participation in spelling bees, and involvement in art exhibitions hosted by external partners, demonstrating the school’s emphasis on holistic development.
The highlight of the Mainstream Prize Giving was the announcement of the school’s top academic honours, naming Snothando Mthethwa as the 2025 DUX and Amelia Simbi as DUX Runner-Up. These accolades were met with pride and applause, symbolising the culmination of sustained effort and dedication.
The ceremony concluded with the acknowledgement of the Grade 7 learners, as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their educational journey. While they move on to new environments, they remain an enduring part of the Pinetown Senior Primary School legacy.
A Shared Celebration of Purpose and Progress
Across both ceremonies, Pinetown Senior Primary School reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing learners who are confident, capable, and grounded in strong values. The Prize Giving events stood as a testament to the collective efforts of learners, educators, parents, and school leadership, celebrating not only outcomes, but the growth and character developed along the way.
As the school community looks ahead to the new academic year, these moments of recognition serve as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through dedication, partnership, and a shared belief in every learner’s potential.
