Pinetown Senior Primary School hosted its inaugural Ladies’ Luncheon on Saturday, 15 August 2026, bringing together women from across the school community for an afternoon of conversation, celebration and shared purpose. Held during the school’s 140th Anniversary year, the luncheon formed part of the events leading up to this significant milestone in the school’s history.

Hosted at the Pinetown Senior Primary School Hall, the afternoon began with guests arriving to refreshments and light fare before settling into the programme. The Glamour in Green theme set the tone for the occasion, with guests embracing the opportunity to dress for an afternoon of celebration and bringing a sense of style and occasion to the hall.

The luncheon was organised as both a fundraising initiative and an opportunity for the school community to come together. Families, friends and supporters gathered around a shared connection to the school, while enjoying an afternoon that combined dining, conversation, entertainment and inspiration.

Ms Saloshni Moodley, who spearheaded the initiative, served as Programme Director and host for the afternoon alongside her co-host, Ms Sesethu MaRadebe (Mfino). Together, they guided guests through a programme that balanced formal presentations with games, prizes and opportunities for guests to relax and enjoy the occasion.

A central part of the programme was the guest speaker segment, which brought together three women from different professional fields.

Mrs Cheryl Reddy, Headmistress of Senior Primary at St Mary’s DSG, Kloof, shared her perspective from education and school leadership. Ms Prashna Prithipal, Senior Product Marketing Specialist at Old Mutual South Africa, brought experience from the corporate and marketing sector, while Dr Aloysia Shanessa Ogle, Medical Practitioner and Author, contributed perspectives from both medicine and writing.

Their different professional backgrounds gave the programme a broad range of perspectives, with each speaker sharing experiences and insights around determination, resilience, achievement and the journeys that shape women’s lives and careers.

The formal programme was complemented by a number of activities throughout the afternoon. Guests took part in games, with prizes including beauty hampers, nail vouchers and gifts provided by supporters of the event. A beauty and pampering station, supported by Avroy Shlain Southern Africa, offered guests an opportunity to enjoy some time for themselves, while a 360° photo booth provided another way for guests to capture moments from the day.

Lunch was another highlight of the afternoon, with guests enjoying a selection of savoury dishes followed by an assortment of desserts and sweet treats. The meal provided an opportunity for guests to sit together, continue conversations and enjoy the occasion beyond the formal programme.

As the afternoon progressed towards its conclusion, the Glamour in Green and Gold theme was celebrated once more through a Best Dressed competition. Guests had embraced the theme with enthusiasm, making the competition a fitting addition to an afternoon where fashion, celebration and personality were very much part of the occasion.

The success of the luncheon was made possible through the contribution of many people who worked before and during the event. The school extends its appreciation to the organising team, programme and technical support, service providers, volunteers and everyone who contributed their time and expertise behind the scenes.

The school is also grateful to the sponsors, voucher contributors and service providers whose generosity supported the event. Their contributions helped provide the prizes, experiences and services that added to the afternoon and supported the wider fundraising initiative.

Pinetown Senior Primary School also extends its appreciation to Merrifield Media Group, its digital and media partner, for its continued support across the school’s photography, videography, digital platforms and wider media requirements, as well as for documenting the luncheon and preserving the moments of the day through photography.

At the centre of the occasion, however, were the women who attended. Their presence turned the inaugural luncheon from an idea into a meaningful gathering for the school community and provided an opportunity for women connected to the school to meet, reconnect and celebrate together.

The Ladies’ Luncheon forms part of a significant year for Pinetown Senior Primary School. As the school prepares to celebrate 140 years of its history on 28 August 2026, the event provided another opportunity to reflect on the strength of the community surrounding the school and the people who continue to contribute to its story.
